What is lateral bracing?
Lateral bracing is the system of braced walls and connections that resists wind and earthquake forces so the home does not rack or overturn. It is designed alongside the floor plans because wall locations drive it.

Ziola Design, Kelowna B.C.
Structure and lateral bracing worked out in the plans, so the home is designed to stand up and to get through permit review.
Structure and lateral bracing are a core part of what Ziola Design does. We design framing, beams, posts, bearing paths and lateral bracing as part of your plans, so the architecture and the structure agree from the start.
In some situations a structural engineer is still required, typically on larger projects, or when a design goes beyond what prescriptive code methods cover. We tell you at the proposal stage, and we coordinate with the engineer.
Framing plans, beam and post sizing, lateral bracing layouts and calculations where required, and the structural details your builder and municipality need.
